Ice Skating in The Pond @ Bryant Park
Jogging in the winter can make you willingly lazy because of the cold frigid condition outside. Hence comes the excuses… it’ll make me sick, it’s snowing and its slippery, blah blah blah!
So I discovered an alternate exercise. From now through this coming winter, my official temporary substitute will be ice skating. It should suffice the lack of cardio I’ve done so far this season.
Since I’ve skated more than 10 times this month already, I thought to myself, hey… why not implement this as part of my exercise. This activity actually helps you burn calories that is hard to reduce. Just standing on your feet with the steel runners affixed to the bottom of the hockey skates require tremendous energy for balance. Besides, I admit it, this is the only exercise that is actually fun and helps burn 445 calories (if you skate for an hour).
Plus, the upside of this exercise is that I don’t have to spend a single penny. Skate for free at The Pond located in Bryant Park. No skates? No problem… skate rental is only $7.50 and that’s all you pay. Sounds like I’m advertising here. Anyways, now that I found my old skates, I think I’ll be there everyday until the rink closes around mid-January.
